the RS500 is the one you want tho..
Friend had one of those new back in the UK, (the RS500 ran twin injectors per cylinder over the regular models single per cyl, along with a few other goodies)
As it was his occasional 'weekend' toy, he had his tweaked to not much less than what the Brit touring car versions were running - laggiest/scariest thing I've ever been in, NO electronics to keep things under control back then!
It wasn't so much a question of technology, current V8 supercar engines are extremely advanced, producing nearly 120kw/ltr from N/A at 6,500-7,000revs is no easy feat and tyre technologies and everything else associated with them is well and truly up there
It was more a case to do with additional hardware such as AWD.....giving too much of an advantage at the start of the race, that's where it's won or lost alot of the time.....
If the V8 supercars incorporated AWD, they would be absolutely awesome, once again especially at the start of the race, as if you can get in front and stay there, you've got it won.....
