Any tips/advise guys?

Hi guys and girls,
David here, I'm thinking of purchasing an insignia wagon, but I'm a little concerned about servicing and cost of parts etc. I was hoping you guys could give me an idea of how much the servicing costs for this vehicle, also give me an idea if the servicing trades put a premium price on parts since Opel no longer supply in Aus. I have done some research on the net, however not much info was found..From what I can understand, selected Holden dealers will service them? But not to sure if they still do? Love the car, looks great, but don't want it to be a burden when no one will service them or parts are limited in Aus.
Any shed of light would be much appreciated. If it helps I'm located in Melbourne.
Cheers

Most if not all holden dealerships will be fine with servicing. Also any euro specialist will be able to do minor servicing on it without issues.
As for parts. We recommend ordering what you need from overseas. Autovaux in the uk can help with any parts you need.

Thanks for the reply Guy. What ball part figure would I be looking at for servicing? Is it still the case that servicing is capped with Holden? So I'm taking that minor parts that would be included in servicing would be easy to get e.g brake pads, timing belts etc, but if for example the starter motor needed to be replaced I would then need to order from the uk? Sorry for the questions, I'm trying to get my head around to see if it's worth to buy. This would be a family car, so I have concerns, but damn this car is really nice!

Your local Holden dealer, or any other company/mechanic for that matter, would have no problems at all servicing the car and sourcing parts. Holden would have most, if not all, regular genuine service parts in stock and most companies can get you aftermarket parts as well. If you use a local mechanic, you can always negotiate to supply your own parts which can be bought from overseas very easy and relatively cheap. Your Holden dealer would have set prices for services so i'd ask for a quote prior to a service. You're right, it is a very nice car indeed.

I wouldn't be concerned even if Holden stopped supplying parts tomorrow.
With the internet, you'll always be able to get spare parts, quickly if required.
Any decent mechanic will be able to work on it.
It won't be any more expensive than a standard Euro.
I'm no mechanic but I do most of the regular maintence on my cars as they are now old and stamped service book doesn't really matter anymore.
Have you owned a Euro before?

Thank you for the reply Dutchy. It's a damn shame that Opel didn't stick it out here in oz, I think if they did there marketing correctly and word of mouth got out, the brand would've been a real contender. Hell I didn't even know the brand at all until I started looking for a family car. Fingers crossed the French decide to give it another go in oz!

Thanks for the advice John. I'm absolutely terrible at servicing cars lol. I can change oil possibly an oil filter, but brakes, and any other fiddley thing, forget about it! Wouldn't trust myself. I drive a Volkswagen caddy for work ATM, I know that van is pretty $$ for servicing/parts. I'm guessing the Opel would be around the same figure? The fear is associated when I had a Nissan import back in my hay day and it was impossible to find parts to suite, but then again the internet wasn't all that popular 15 or so years ago haha.

If you can change the oil and filter thats 3 quarters of what what most services are anyway.
Dealer servicing is expensive for any brand unless it's under a capped price scheme. I couldn't believe what Mazda and Subaru dealers charge as Japanese cars are portrayed as cheap to service.
