This could have ended badly... hose off the thermostat to that metal pipe.

Whats strange is that it waant blocked anywhere. Triple checked the pipes, hoses, thermostat housing.
Maybe it was just that pipes time to give up.

Finally have a free day to do a coolant flush + install new header tank and thermo, quick question but, I did buy premixed coolant nulon red which it currently is running green, flushing the rad is very straight forward but well be also flushing block now apparently after flushing with water about 3ltrs remain in there and a capacity of 7ltrs so if I use 4 liters of premixed will that be as efficient enough to run or would I be better to exchange and get a mix it yourself version and do the maths?
Both can be made to work but it's so much easier with concentrate. If you have a 7 litre system and you want to guarantee a 50:50 mix, just do the flush and empty it right out at the end. You'll have an unknown amount of water left in the system but it doesn't matter how much, so long as you can squeeze 3.5L of concentrate in and then just top the rest up with water, you know you have your 50:50 ratio. Premix can be good for topping up and getting out of trouble, but I'd hardly ever use it. Plus the ethylene glycol count doesn't seem to be proportionately less than concentrate but rather grossly cut down.
That's good advice thank you ,tap water is fine to use?
