What car and engine?
Also no it shouldn't be making that noise.
Sorry for another post folks, I notice in my new select manual that under 2k under light to med acceleration there is a rattle, like a pulley type rattle or the rattle u get when putting car underload up a hill in wrong gear? So hard to describe but sure everyone has heard it in their lifetime. Very common in 4cyl. Anyway suppose I should ask does yours do it?

try 98 petrol next time you fill up. when i got my new astra j, they put 91 in and i also heard some noise which i didnt expect to hear. then halfway back home, i had to put petrol in. filled her up with 98, as i always do, and noise gone.

Seems to have gone a fair bit with premium fuel. It sounds like the tensioner shake when under load which is a common thing
