Have you got the same iTunes store account on iTunes and iPad/iPhone?
Well, this is the strange issue I am having.
My iphone and ipad was originally synced with the computer and when I connect them both now, it always ask me to erase all data like it doesn't belong to the computer anymore. All the apps that come up are greyed out and if I tick the box, it will ask me to erase everything again. Some may remember I had to unlock this phone and did so by losing everything by formatting it (backup failed), but now the POS wont recognise the iphone (& ipad) anymore.
I have checked to see if the computer is allowed to access the devices and it has been. If I check the backups, it has registered them all, so it is the correct computer (I have 2). I have backed up the phone and it still greyed out afterwards.
Suggestions?
I have lost everything on the iPhone so I don't want to go through all that again.

Far from being an expert, and not sure if this is what you are asking, but I think I had a similar issue, and some searching and reading reveals that every iTunes library has some kind of unique multi-digit ID code. By using a text or HTML or XML editor or something to open up the libary file, and manually modifying the new iTunes library's ID code to match what you already have (there are multiple instances of this...you need to make sure all instances are corrected, otherwise it will revert to the new ID code), *should* allow multiple iDevices to share the one iTunes library again...

Thanka for that! Sounds like a massive headache. i did move the backups to another drive as i was running out of room, probably what stuffed me. But even making a new backup, still wont let the devices be recognised ...! Stupid iTunes!!
Clutching at straws here and I don't know whether this actually makes sense or not, but did it loose sync after an update - anyway you can roll back an iTunes update and see whether that fixes it?

Good idea, might look into the roll back and see if that works.
