Got Goodyear Eagle F1 Assymetrical 2 on all fours for my Clio. Not bad at $872 for 4 215/45 R17 with 12 months interest free :-) Grip is fantastic, braking is really good as well. Need to test them in the hills today...
Never used Conti's, but I've always heard good things and friend of mine swares by them.

Only ever had the original Conti Sports contacts on my 2.2 Sri (came with it new) and they were awesome - recently been running the Dunlop SP SPortMaxx which are on a par or better - both soft compound so don't expect to get more than about 12-15000 k out of them depending on your driving style.
So i've got some dodgey Durun tyres on the AH SRI-T and in teh wet i'm loosing traction all over the place, even in normal driving mode. In my enthusiastic or frenetic modes it's like driving on ice.. getting wheel spin in 3rd and 4th as the turbo comes in. Rang a few places for prices on Dunlop SP Sportmaxx only to find they are over $500 a corner. So my question.. whats everyone running on the ah turbo and who recommends what??
Tyres are 225/40/R18

Where's the logic in that? In a fwd the front tyres heat up alot quicker than the rear. Hence, you will have a big difference in pressures between front & rear tyres. Having a much higher pressure in the front is just gonna increase understeer.
If anything you'd be starting with slightly higher in the rear, so that once the front heats up, the front/rear pressures should be about the same. On the track, my front cold pressure is 2-4psi lower than the rear.
I personally run 40psi on street tyres (50 profiles or less) for sharper steering response, with no effect on tyre wear.
290kpa is a bit high (42psi).
260kpa to 275kpa (38psi to 40psi) is closer to the max cold pressures you should be running.
