Anyone rooted their SGS2?
what is "rooting"?
maybe its something you should talk to your parents about
or
essentially it allows access to the 'root' directory of your phone/tablet
so you can change boot logos, animations, overclock cpu etc

you'd be surprised
on XDA people put up custom roms, they strip out all the shit and leave the essential bits in
then you can add onto them from there. have seen some massive speed gains on devices by doing this.

The actual rooting doesn't, it's what you do to the device after it is rooted

Breaking into the "root" account of a unix or linux based OS. Also known as "Privilege escalation". On a device you own, e.g. an android phone, it's a completely reasonable thing to do (although there is a risk of turning your device into a brick with some of the tools). On somebody elses webserver, rather illegal
ok, so how and what to i do to improve speed and battery life without bricking my phonee that still has a year left to the contract?
