I've got this on the portable HDD and my usb drive on my work keys - nice little program that works well on external drives..

It's a little program that runs off your portable hard drive or usb memory stick - you can download programs that then run of your hard drive so you dont have to worry about installing them on every computer you work on - good for if you have a desktop for work and not allowed to install stuff on it.

I've had a couple of externals in my time. Only difference is I always option mine with firewire 400/800 (recording industry=macs macs macs). I got about 2 years constant use out of a LaCie Rugged drive. It has a rubber shock resistant surround which gave me good peace of mind - drive still works too (some of the interfaces have dropped out). I also have a seagate freeagent go which comes in a leather case. It's still going strong and always boots and recognises instantly. eBay is definately your friend for these things or perhaps you might like to try umart online in brisbane (www.umart.com.au)
