Make sure the connector pins between lens and camera are clean and not damaged on ur lens
Hi Guys
Just bought a Nikon D90 as a replacement for my Nikon D40X. On my D40X I was able to use the auto focus setting no worries on my 18-55 lens how ever on the D90 it wont allow me to use it - only manual focus. The Selector switch is set to AF (auto focus). The catch is here that the 55-200mm lens will auto focus no worries. Its frustrating me as I can not seem to find a solution

putting it nicely, the 18-55mm lens is shit
so going to a better camera doesnt support that lens off the D40X
i cant remember the techinal side of it, but its due to teh D90 using a motor on the front of the camera to where the lens attaches.
i will see if i can find the techincal reason for you

Nah Poita thats fine mate - thought it may have had something to do with the motor. Im looking for a nice small lens as a nice replacement without spending the big dollars (by that I mean under $1000)

Something around the 18-55 mark as I have got a 55-200mm so something that I can use a little zoom with. Thats why I liked the 18-55 lens.
