Our driving laws all differ dont they?

Cos for us, you get your (P's) licence at 17 - go on your opens when your 20

    OR

Get your P's, stay on them for 3 years, then advance to your opens.

I don't know what WA laws state, but you're spose to be on your P's for 3 years here - so just check the numbers on his licence, because its possible u may have counted wrong, or he just lucked out didnt he. Click here to enlarge

You are off your P's three years to the date you got your P's - unless you have had your licence suspended in the meantime. Even then, you go on your Opens, just with less points.

    from my experiences

in QLD you can get your learners when you turn 16.5 and you only have to have them for 6 months = P's at 17y.o
(thats how it was when i got my licence.. could have changed since then)

    i got my licence in QLD on 11 july 2002 (i was 17.5) = i could get my opens 11 july 2005 = 3 years

in VIC you have to be 21 to get your open licence, no matter how long you have had your P's for, which meant that i had to wait til december 2005 to get my open

    In NSW...

Can get your L's as early as 16

You can only get your Red P's (Provisional 1) at the age of 17 and you have to have had your L's for 6 months and have 50 hours of driving logged for your log book. If you get your Red P's on an Auto you can only drive an auto. You have 4 demirit points on P1.

Green P's (Provisional 2) you can get after having your P1's for 1 year. You can drive a manual if you got your P1 license on auto. You have 7 demerit points on P2.

Full License you can get after having P2's for 2 years... You have 12 demerit points on full license.

Fastest you can do it is get L's at 16.5, P1's at 17, P2's at 18, full at 20.
