$50 for 2kw is pretty good value in my opinion
With a regular service at HOLDEN, is the ECU meant to be updated as part of the service?
Or is it an additional job that justifies a $50 bill?
It makes that slight difference for the 2000 plated astras one of which are that the 2000 plated astras are 90kw and the upgrade takes the power to 92kw.

Its a 5 minuite job that corrects a fault they sold the car with.... I'd tell them to shove it, frankly.
what fault is this?
so they should do the update as well with a regular service at holden?
The fault that makes it not develop the power it should...
You have to sell these things...
they updated my vectra long time ago to make it stop having idle control problems.
a sikcnt down at the beach told me his cousin can update any cars ecu to put out 435rwkw even if it's front wheel drive. he said that's what the cops use in their cars
hahahahaha thats the funniesnt thing ive heard all day

I've had 2 free upgrades already, both under warranty.
According to the dealer, one of the upgrades (possibly amongst other things) fixes an issue with the immobiliser. I can attest to the immobiliser problem and the successful fix.
The other update i had apparently relates to an attempt to improve the bottom end. Seems to improve it a bit, but I'm still not happy.
I have a 2001 model.
I have an April 2000 plated Astra - which at stock is 85kw. (Happy Birthday to my car...the only 4yo i am allowed to legally ride)
Next service i will actually ask Holden to see if they can update the ECU BUT i think it may run a diff. ECU the 90 and 92 kW models. So not sure if they can actually do it.
