    XC Barina electrical faults

Hi all - first-time poster here,

We have a 2005 Barina, 75000kms, 1.4ltr auto which has developed some sort of electrical fault.

Dash shows a battery and engine check light, dials go nuts and car goes to limp mode (3rd gear).

1st mechanic pulls a 'lost comms to can bus' code out of the computer, reset it and we were able to drive it 100km before it happened again.

Waiting on the 2nd mechanic to give an opinion, he's warned they're known for this sort of thing and it could be anything from a loose connection to a failure in the ECU.

Does anyone have any ideas? Is this a known fault? Is there an obvious fix?

    Any help would be appreciated.

    Thanks, Luke.

Sounds like my brothers old Patrol which had a short in a wire rubbing against the chassis. But haven't seen many on here that have had a similar issue as your car mate. Hope your second mechanic can sort that out for you.
