    Astra J A-Pillar Rattle

    Hi Guys,

    Astra J 1.6 Sports here.
I've had an intermittent rattle coming from the passenger-side A-pillar area since near-new. Not very loud, but can get rather annoying nonetheless – particularly on coarse road surfaces.
It sounds like it's the pillar trim, and can sometimes be silenced by a passenger pressing or banging it (though the exact place needing pressing seems to change).

My car is about to have it's 30,000km service, so will mention it to them then. But otherwise, I'm happy to have a go at tinkering with it myself. However, I do know there's an airbag in there which I wouldn't want to disturb.

Has anybody had a similar rattle in their car? And has anybody attempted fixing it – any hints?

    Cheers
    Matt

Had a similar rattle also seemed coming from the lower area passenger seat somewhere. I thought it might have been a wire somewhere but could not find it. Also took those mudflap things off in front of the front wheels as it didnt do it at low speed so thought it was wind related. Did not fix it. Then after letting someone else drive my car, I found out the rattle came from the enginebay and not near the passenger side. http://www.opelaus.com/forums/showth...-of-the-engine

Have you tried getting someone else in the passenger side to push down/hold down parts of the car whilst in motion? I've found this is a good way to locate rattles.

I have some annoying rattle but I suspect comes from within the passenger seat itself. When I have a passenger - no rattle. It's almost like a creak for me. So maybe a diff sound altogether. I've sat in seat with someone else driving and experienced it up close. Annoying, yes. Not sure there is an easy fix.
