    Astra 2000 (G) ECU Reliability

The original ECU failed at 93000km which is possibly "par for the course". Has anyone had an ECU failure at less than 30000km?

    Many thanks

I have a 2000 (December '99 plated) Astra G sedan which ive had since September 2011.

I bought it with 55,000kms on it, and it now has just ticked over 90,000kms. Since then I have had the major 60k service done (timing belt/water pump/pulleys etc) and then changed the oil every 5,000kms and the filters changed every 2nd 5k service

Ive only had one issue with it, and that was the coilpack, which has been replaced. Apart from that it has been trouble free motoring reliability wise ever since. I plug the opcom in every now and then and do a few quick checks and nothing funky shows up or any signs that the ECU is going to play up so im pretty happy with it.

Its not my ideal car (because its a city, zero options), but it gets me to work and back every day and thats all I need it for.

Sure, we dont have to worry about viking raids or scurvy anymore, but instead we make a daily routine of sitting in flimsy, fibreglass (or metal) boxes full of gasoline which are propelled in opposing directions on the freeway at velocities matching that of low flying aircraft.

This is a roundabout way of saying that cars are dangerous....

Wife's 2000 astra CD had the ecu fail at around 60000 / 5 year mark. We were lucky that holden agreed to replace it under goodwill as it had been serviced on time at a holden dealer.
