I think a tutorial has already been done on the front grille by Franky9Fingers, try running a search.
Hello everyone,
Just registered to opelaus so new user here. Great to see that there are opel freaks out there like myself. I had a 1996 GSI (black) since 1997 then upgraded to the SRI 2003 (aztec Gold) last year.
I was talking about changing badges for years and i finally went to the Uk 2 months ago and saw the Vauxhal spare parts in Manchester so i had to stop in and chek out the accessories. I bought the following...
1x Rear Opel Badge
1x Front Opel Badge
1x "OPEL" word
1x "CORSA" word
1x SRI badge
I have had them sitting in my drawer since i got back and was going to go to smash repair place or someplace similar to get it done but after all the posts here (and thanks to the great posts by Frankie9fingers) an thinking about doing it myself tomorrow.
So let me get this straight so i can do it right. The rear badges....
Firstly....
1x holden lion
1x barina
Are just stuck on with double sided tape and best removed with a hair dryer, (dont like the idea of heat gun) so the glue is softened and then remove with fishing line or dental floss and replaced with the
1x rear Opel Badge
1x "OPEL" word
1x "CORSA" word - other side
Secondly here comes the topic of much discussion, THE FRONT BADGE!!
It seems people are having lost of problems with the "black lion mould " that is behind the existing Holden front badge. So the process required here is to cut out a hole where the lion is so that its removed. Then put something, deciding between black perspex circle or cut steel mesh in circle, and attach with glue before attaching.
If i am putting something behind the opel badge that is thin, like mesh, do i have to cut out the lion to fit the opel badge??
I thankyou in advance for your replies.
Drew
P.S I will be sure to attach pictures of the whole process in the next day or so , as i am sure it will be of interested and assistance to future attempts at badge removing and applying.

Drewc with the front badge dont bother cutting out the lion just find a thin backing and cut it so it fits very snug inside the badge, and follow frankies steps....Originally Posted by drewc
I used Screen door mesh to cover the lion, worked great! You need to use atleast 3 layers though.
Hey Guys,
I have jsut completed Stage 1 badge changes for my Car. I have taken some pics of before and after and also some images of the DREADED LION that is a headache of alot of people.
Also i am undecided wether to use the word "OPEL" & "CORSA" on the back of the car??? What do you guys think. If i dont use them then i will sell them to someone who requires them in the forum. They are genuine GM badges from the UK.
Let me know what you think of the badges and if the pics are any help. I used think PVC black plastic that i arildited onto the badge.
Cheers Drew
