I understand the difference in numbers sold between USA & Australia prob like 1000-1.
But does there need to be such a high price difference???
    $199 for thex16gb.
    $799 here for the 16gb.

Then again it's no different than anything else is it.

    Re: iPhone 5, Thoughts?

Yep we had to do that. We were able to order them in for customers and had to tell them we weren't sure how long they will have to wait for. I think the longest it took was 4 weeks but the average was 2 so obviously apple had them lying around! Guess they were hoping people wouldn't want to wait

    Yes.

Actual comparison is $649 US oughtright versus $799 here. Oh, and UK is £529. The US is still about $175 ahead when the currency value is converted. We are a little better off here than the UK, which slightly more of a rip-off.

Beware buying US stock though, because there are actually three devices. AT&T, Sprint/Verizon, and "everyone else"...

... still more expensive than in the US, despite the price drop (which is mostly avoiding tax due to fulfilment from HK).

yeh but you gotta remember, they wages and salaries are different. At a retail store or even a fast food outlet (in the US) there average hourly rate is like 8 dollars. Here (in OZ) you get paid 16-19 at Coles or mc donalds. There average salaries are $40k, ours are like 65-75k

Yeah I'll just go across the road to the Apple store here in Perth to get mine.
No pre-order or waiting for delivery.
