Sure, we dont have to worry about viking raids or scurvy anymore, but instead we make a daily routine of sitting in flimsy, fibreglass (or metal) boxes full of gasoline which are propelled in opposing directions on the freeway at velocities matching that of low flying aircraft.

This is a roundabout way of saying that cars are dangerous....

I shipped an EFR6758 via FedEx from Sydney to the UK just over a month ago. Cost was around $250-$300.

The above pricing sounds about right. From my past experience, I'd use Fedex.

BR (Blue Raven) did it for his Astra along with other such hardware...

    Is he still about ??

With items I've had freighted from O/S it only starts getting really expensive once you exceed 2.0kgs.

Other option is to get it freighted via boat instead of aeroplane, takes alot longer but also alot cheaper...

Not really, AusPost quoted me $220 by boat and would take a couple of months, was $260 for air freight 8-10 days.
