    Best Satnav?

    I've had TomTom. Crap
    Navman. Crap.
Uniden. Awesome but very hard to get hold of.
A few others. Not too fussed.
What does everyone who has a Garmin think of them? Otherwise do you have any other suggestions?

I carry a globe in my car for whenever i need to figure out where i'm going.
sure it might not have the latest maps on it, show me traffic avoidance routes or even give me turn by turn navigation.
Has unbelievable battery life as I've never had to charge it and the low battery warning has never come up.
Its also big enough that I could probably use it as a capsule to send tiny people across waters to deliver messages. So i guess that means it can do text messaging.
Also whenever I go to the beach everyone always say they want one.

But when im not using that, i use my TomTom START which i have never had any problems with. Ive had 3 Navmans, and I should have learnt after the first time not to go back to one.

I havent used a Garmin unit... But my last phone had the Garmin navigation software on it, and I loved it. If i could get the Garmin navigation software on my current phone I would have it installed in a flash

Sure, we dont have to worry about viking raids or scurvy anymore, but instead we make a daily routine of sitting in flimsy, fibreglass (or metal) boxes full of gasoline which are propelled in opposing directions on the freeway at velocities matching that of low flying aircraft.

This is a roundabout way of saying that cars are dangerous....

Or this. Also pretty good. best feature in it imo is it gives you a choice of routes to take after entering your destination address

Guy, that will not fit with the planned boot install, but maybe a desk globe is an option.

    +1 on the Garmin.

I've just bought a Nuvi 50 ($159 from JBs) and it does everything I need it to (I work as a courier) and it's just so simple to use. I had a Nuvi 1260 a while back, again awesome, but some scumbag broke into the iLoad and stole it along with my iPod, yet they left a $2.5k scanner behind. Bought a Navman MY60T after that, but that crapped itself within 3 months. Had an Navman S50 that I used for a while, but that started to give out, so I went out and got the Nuvi 50. At least the maps are up to date and doesn't have a fit when I drive through newer areas like Mawson Lakes and Munno Para West.

With the Nuvi 50, you only get 90 days worth of free map updates, but even then I'd still prefer that over any Tomtom or Navman device any day of the week.
