Didn't turn anything off. I just factory reset the phone. Have reinstalled all the apps I was using before the update except one (that wasn't working anyway and therefore not running).
Obviously with that screenshot the phone hasn't been used much (took it off charge last night) but will post up another screenshot now as I've used it for a couple of calls and emails during lunchbreak.
Also its been on the wifi network all day at home and at work so that makes a lot of difference too, but it appears that 4.4 is better with power than 4.3 (for me and my phone)
