Agree...I'm also very interested in the new wave of turbo diesels for everyday use - Mazda is bringing out their 'skyactiv' range later this year which includes new transmissions as well...
Tiny or small sized turbos are essential in preventing lag and providing maximum response, so no probs there
Turbo petrols are heading the same way, either going to twin scroll layout or a larger number of smaller turbos for future use albeit at higher costs of the end vehicle product.
Rumour has it for eg. that the new BMW M3 will feature a 3.5ltr IL6 'triple turbo' or 2 exhaust ports driving each smaller turbo unit, going back and replacing the larger twin scroll of the current IL6 which again before that was a smaller single scroll small twin turbo set up...
