bahahaha, pretty much
just have the supplied modem handy when you call, because 9 times out of 10 they go for the easy blame, being a non supplied modem
heres how a typical tech support call will go:
- have u restarted your computer
- are u using a non supplied modem
- have u restarted the modem
- have u made sure the modem was the only one plugged in during the test
a tech support call for me would be like you arguing with a wreckers about an N15 pulsar versus a 2.2 astra
Sure, we dont have to worry about viking raids or scurvy anymore, but instead we make a daily routine of sitting in flimsy, fibreglass (or metal) boxes full of gasoline which are propelled in opposing directions on the freeway at velocities matching that of low flying aircraft.
This is a roundabout way of saying that cars are dangerous....

bottom right hand corner click on the network icon (5 bars small to bigger)
then click open network and sharing centre
under view your active networks it will have your network.
jsut to the right a little it will have connections.
and have your network name in blue
click on that and a new window will open
it will have connections about 6th one down is speed, will be in mbps
whats that saying?

54mbps, which coincidentally is what the modem is rated to

that wont be helping tbh
the newer ones run much quicker speeds over wifi
mine connects at 150mb, with a better network card 300mb is achievable
i would consider upgrading the modem anyway
