Firstly, I have to apologise for letting this die and not updating everyone! We've had the worst winter on record in Scotland, and this had a major effect on the transport network, we couldn't get deliveries across the country in less than 10 days, when it normally takes less than that to get a parcel to Australia! This effectively killed our online business during that period. However!

Our workshops were under 6 inches of snow during the start of December (it actually made it a warmer place to work in minus 16 deg C temperatures!), then it thawed and we discovered that our landlord (we leased the workshops, as most businesses do) hadn't maintained the roof. The water came into the structure of the building, long story, upshot the building was declared unsafe and we had to move out!

I've managed to move out, lost some stock, lost some time, but now we are just about back on our feet. The business is split between two locations, which is a bit of a nightmare, but we're back on track more or less.

Hey guys, any news here? What was the final price? Are there still 2 spares coming?

Also, I understand a MY 2000 Vec will be OBDII, but somebody was somewhat unclear on the changeover period earlier in the thread. Will a MY1999 Vec (Sep 99 to be precise) still be OBDII?

thanks in advance. Click here to enlarge

Damn. Steve's company didn't make it through the winter, or he can't get the supplies?

    Hi Folks,
Sorry for leaving you guys in the dark for so long, we had a lot to deal with after the winter and because of the amount of work we had to cancel due to relocating, the business very nearly folded. The eBay sales had to go to the wayside and we've not really dealt with Opcoms for two reasons.

Firstly, our supplier in Europe went out of business. When we first started dealing with the diagnostic tools, we dealt with wholesalers in China and found that their products were often faulty or badly made, so we went with a proper company in Europe. This meant we were assured of quality, although they cost us more to buy, we figured this was the best way to go for our customers. Since our wholesaler went under, we haven't been able to find another.

Secondly, and this is important for you guys if you're still buying Opcom. All the units are manufactured in the Far East, there were new revisions to the circuit board design trickling through after we started to re-source a supplier. We had some samples sent to us which wouldn't work with a lot of the ancilliary modules, such as the ABS, Cooling control, Body control and Immo/Alarm. It turns out that the Far East have screwed up!! The new designs don't work with older cars, as they have cut the support from the unit for the older cars in order to support CAN equipped cars. So we've decided not to sell these units at all, as it's a bad design and we don't want upset customers that buy interfaces that don't do what they're supposed to.

Since this, I've personally sought out another supplier, for quality circuit board designs to begin with, and I have all the schematics for the old and new boards. I think I know how to modify these to work fully and now that the work backlog has cleared (everyone is out driving their cars again, instead of booking them into us for mods!), I have a new style Opcom on the electronics bench to work on. IF, and this is a big IF, I can modify this to work properly, we will be selling on eBay again. As for group buys, I can't say we can offer these anymore, due to the work involved in modification. We'll see how we go. Sorry about everything, hope everyone is doing well?

    IMPORTANT BIT!!

IF YOU'RE BUYING AN OPCOM NOW, CONTACT THE VENDOR BEFORE PAYING ANY MONEY, ASK THEM TO ASSURE YOU THAT YOUR UNIT WILL WORK ON THE MODULES I'VE LISTED ABOVE. IF YOU HAVE NO REPLY, OR THEY'RE VAGUE, KEEP YOUR DOLLARS IN YOUR WALLET, YOU WILL MOST LIKELY FIND ONE OF THE ROGUE UNITS.

I'm not saying that to make sales, as I say, I haven't worked through this issue on the electronics bench yet, but as a responsible business owner I think people should be aware.
