with the dollar at parity with the US dollar - I want to get a ebook reader - probably the Kindle (because its the one I've heard most about) - anyone else have other recommendations on what to get???
And I'm not interested in an iPad so don't suggest that....

Sure, we dont have to worry about viking raids or scurvy anymore, but instead we make a daily routine of sitting in flimsy, fibreglass (or metal) boxes full of gasoline which are propelled in opposing directions on the freeway at velocities matching that of low flying aircraft.
This is a roundabout way of saying that cars are dangerous....
just ordered the kindle off Amazon. 139 + 20 for shipping to Aus. Delivery between the 20-25 October so about a week which isn't too bad.

The Kindle is awesome for reading. Well, hat what is made for I got one months ago when it cost me just over A$300 delivered. The best part is Whispernet, the wireless broadband connection that comes with it and it is free of charge. It only takes a minute from the moment you purchased the book from Amazon to starting reading it. Have to watch your credit card though, so easy to spend on books using this thing
