I'm pretty sure someone posted an article about the different octanes of fuel that pointed how using 98 on a car designed to run 91/95 is a waste as the octane refers to the fuel's resistance to compression... so if your car (lets just make a scale up here out of 10...) is rated to compress the fuel up to 2/10... but you put in fuel that can resist compression of 9/10....that aint gonna do anything but burn your wallet unless you can make your motor compress the fuel more before igniting (which i'm guessing would result in more power).
I've never put 98 in my car only 95 (as recommended by the user manual for better performance).
