Hello Everyone,

I recently bought an 07 AH Astra SRi Turbo

Awesome machine, I love it to say the least.

I have a concern however that I would like to put to those of you who have more experience with the Z20LET/R

First thing I did when I picked the car up was change the oil (even though the chap I bought it from changed the oil at half service intervals, its always been drilled into me that you should change the oil on a second hand car when you first get it)

I noticed there was a bit of residue on the rocker cover and around the front of the block.

I cleaned it all up and figured the previous owner must have spilled some when he last changed the oil and I thought nothing more of it.

(I also noticed the same oil residue on other Astra SRi Turbo's I looked at buying)

I am wondering if its a common issue or wether its actually a leaking head gasket?

Here is a picture that illustrates the areas I am talking about.....its not my engine though, I will have to post some pictures when I get the chance.

Could be your cam cover seal. They become very brittle and hard over time.

I have a sneaking suspicion that its the cam seal cover as well after having a look at the spark plugs. There is a fair bit of oil around that area as well.

At least there appears to be nothing leaking around the turbo area....

Damn! Its just out of factory warranty as well....always the way I suppose.
