Are you buying a 3D TV?

I saw a demonstration of this at work a few weeks back. Meh...

The majority of people I've asked don't really give a shit about 3D TV. I'm interested to know who is buying one?

3D TV is only waste of time and money IMHO. When they work without glasses let me know and I might have a look.

as someone who sells them, my personal opinions are,

-3d feature is kinda cool. Some moments look great in 3d, whilst others look like I've put on someone else's glasses.
-3d is certainly not something you'd watch 'all the time' (eg. it's not like you'd put the glasses on every time you watch TV
-There will be more of a market for them when there is more content, especially live action content (it's just a couple of animations atm)

I think 3d should be looked upon as an extra (like a sunroof for example), not the thing that defines the TV.

-Forgetting the 3d feature, the TV itself (in particular the LED range from Samsung) is great - good picture, improvements over previous generations of edgelit TVs, great internet and skype connectivity through Ethernet (wireless on the bundled BluRay). Sexy remote control.
The genesis of the LED Samsungs is essetially they took the range topping Series 8 LEDs, added the 3d functionality and a new metalled base and hey presto you've got the Series 7000 3d TV.

Recommended retail on the 46" LED is $3699. Without advertising too much, there's enough money in them for us to be able to put them out around 3.2Ks, so if you go into harvey's or JB there's certainly room push them on their pricing. The interesting thing is that at this price they're cheaper then the Series 8 LEDs were (and that's without the 3d function).

tbh I'd be buying a Samsung TV for it's technology, and Internet@TV, Skype and 3DTV are all examples of that. If picture/onboard sound was the defining thing I'd probably go with a Sharp TV instead, or pay out some dollars and get a Euro made Phillips Anamorphic (21:9) TV ($8,999 retail). We got one out of the box last week and it absolutely rocks.

I'd be happy with a new LCD for starters. Plus I could never justify spending that much money on a TV.
