sorry i dont get it?? whats with the course??

IMHO and i dont mean to offend, i feel a photography course is pointless with a point and shoot camera, as its pretty much all explained in a manual how to select the auto functions.. a SLR or DSLR different story but then a course can't really teach you anything as environments/surroundings are always changing.. they can teach you what youd need to adjust and do to take the photo but can never really teach you how to take a great shot, it comes down to patience and luck in my opinion. On a usual photo night ill take in excess of 500 photos and walk away with maybe 10-20 decent shots where in which ill have probs 20 different shots of the exact same image just where ive been perfecting the settings

I do like your cellar and sunset pics but Click here to enlarge and the water beads on the plants is cool but i dont get the puddles Click here to enlarge

courses teach you to see the best shot without taking 500 photos of the same scene. anyone can shoot of hundreds of photos and pull out a couple of good ones but it takes time and experience to see the perfect image and capture it with 1 shot.

seen my photo thread? 1 shot only on each subject. its not luck. during my degree, every week for a month 1 roll of undeveloped film was to be handed in with 36 photos on it of different objects, people or places.

I am all for photography courses, even if it is just to learn basic camera settings. You learn how to set up the image to get the shot just as you want it.

    Amen Guy!

I don't see the skill in taking 500 photos and selecting the best ones. patience will bring the best shots. I'm not worried about what the course will or won't teach me becuase it was a gift from the missus and i am simply very pleased to be attending.

Although I do beleive I should have a DSLR for this course, the point and shoot isn't holding up badly at all as you an see.

It was obviously wet that day so water is about all we could take photos of.

The first puddle is a simple but broken mirror image. The second is me tapping the puddle with my finger quickly and taking the shot instantly to 'break' the pole in the refelection and the third and fourth photos are using macro settings to captur the finer details at the head of the puddle/s.
