being under 21, I wouldn't bother buying a high powered car, be it turbo 4, 6 or V8.

Insurance will be way too much.

save up, drive the barina for a couple more years and then purchase whatever you want @ 21... i.e. 135i or 370Z for $40k, or HSV VE Clubsport for $25k.

for 20k i'd buy something like an immaculate manual 380 or an Aurion

for something more exciting and more likely to fall apart i'd say a modern V6 falcon or V6 commodore. don't go too old because some of the older V6s are slugs esp. in auto - even some of the older V8s are pretty slow by todays standards

something even more exciting but prone to falling apart, an XR6 turbo in good condition?

iv worked out with both jobs that i can save around $20,000 in 6 month and obviously the longer i wait the more i can save 12 month would be around $40,000 etc

so if you had 20k to spend on a car what would it be and why... something made after 2005 as i would want something newer than the barina as anything older imo is going backwards and also want a bit of power... probably v6
My advice is to go brand new, not S/H...anything you can get new for 20k is a step up from your Barina...

However considering a budget of only 20k and wanting a V6 vehicle you may be restricted with new car choices...

How about waiting an extra 6 months and then looking for something new and alot better with that 40k budget you mentioned instead ?? that's what I'd do Click here to enlarge
