My 56k "backup" connection my ISP provided was canned because no one used it anymore because most people had a prepaid wireless BB connection for backup now
Gone are the days of the "futuristic sounding" tone your whopping 56000bps modem made when it connected to the information superhighway
I remember playing a modem connected game of Quake 1 with a made and all u would hear is the modem noises over the constant fragging of your enemy and his bots

i think there may be a very small few, ppl that cant get adsl in their area, or are on a wireless dongle, n have bad reception in their area.
i'm on 1.5mb connection, n love that i have hit 1.2mbps manny times.
yet aparently acording to telstra, i'm in an adsl blackspot???
