I got no issues with booting mine, give it another go a jailbreaking.
What Modem F/W u have?? I have 5.11.07, the tethering is a known issue cos the new modem F/W also updates the boot rom area, causing this problem.Originally Posted by guy 27

Mine is a 3G (8G) I have jailbroken plenty of 3GS's though. last one would of been 3 months ago fresh from the apple store. You should be able to do it no issues at all. just have a read of the devteam blog.

has anyone made a backdater program so u can go from 3.1.3 back to 3.1.2 or something??
Strange, i used Blackra1n to do it out of the box. After i did it the first time i shit cos it went straight to the connect to computer logo. I restored it then jailbroke it again, then read that this was normal, hence they call it a "tethered Jailbreak". Have done heaps of reading on devteam + others like iphone forum etc. I just assumed it was normal until reading ur post 2day...

Have u tried downloading on older F/W then using iTunes holding down the 'Shift' key??

same issue with mine
its not the firmware, its the actuall bootrom
at the moment theres nothing you can do about it, just dont let it die, or blackrain everytime u want to turn it on
