    0W40 Edge oil...

Is the Castrol Edge 0W40 Oil too thin for the Z18XE engine?? I'm doing a service this weekend and am wanting to use a full synth oil..the castrol lube guide recommends the 0w40 for a 1.8 NA is that right??

i think the factory recommendation is 10w-40

0w-40 may or may not be ok. i know that when i used 5w-40 i got some rattling from the valve train on cold startup in winter - switched to 10w-40 and it went away Click here to enlarge

hmm....its what castrol recommends to use on there website. I just don't want to buy it and fark the engine by doing so because the oil is too thin

Maybe look at using mobil instead if you're after a fully synthetic... You'll get closer to the factory recommendation, if not exact.

U will prob find no difference to the 0w40 and a 10w40 except u will get more life from it but will set u back more $$$. Take a look at penrite they had a full synth 5w30 and was half the price one of my favorites. Edge is a bit over hyped

That seems rather a short oil change period for a fully synth oil.
