i think the factory recommendation is 10w-40
0w-40 may or may not be ok. i know that when i used 5w-40 i got some rattling from the valve train on cold startup in winter - switched to 10w-40 and it went away
Is the Castrol Edge 0W40 Oil too thin for the Z18XE engine?? I'm doing a service this weekend and am wanting to use a full synth oil..the castrol lube guide recommends the 0w40 for a 1.8 NA is that right??

Maybe look at using mobil instead if you're after a fully synthetic... You'll get closer to the factory recommendation, if not exact.
