    Advanced Driver Training

    http://csbrisbane.godo.com.au/activi...anced-driving/

My birthday is coming up, and as an experienced road driver only, I am looking at the STMS100 and STMS103 courses - Skid pan with spins, over and under steering, braking in wet etc.

After that, 103 for a full day looks Awesome. I plan on using my own car (Though I can drive a manual quite roughly when required). So though the Veccy is an Auto - it's the car I am driving and I want to have more control of it.

Does anyone know this group ? Are there better ones ? Open to ideas.

    Cheers

controlling the over/understeer and braking in wet will definitely increase the way u control the veccy Click here to enlarge
Sure, we dont have to worry about viking raids or scurvy anymore, but instead we make a daily routine of sitting in flimsy, fibreglass (or metal) boxes full of gasoline which are propelled in opposing directions on the freeway at velocities matching that of low flying aircraft.

This is a roundabout way of saying that cars are dangerous....

always use your car (or an identical car to yours) in these things - no point feeling what a Commodore etc is like on the limit and then you get into your car and have no idea about it.

    agree with pete.

done a couple of performance driving courses here in perth...

they dont give you the option to use one of there cars.
youll be amazed at how much you learn even in an auto (mines auto...)
probably the most important thing to practice in these controlled environments is braking...
how when and where. also the limits of you breaks (a lot more forgiving for you, cos unlike some of us you have TC)

and another thing is weight transfer, especially important in a heavy car like yours.

That's why I think this is so important for P platers. Every person that just gets their license rates themself as a "good" driver just because they can accelerate. Braking is such a HUGE part if driving. first thing I tought my sister was to stay clear of the brakes mid corner.

AGREED, but lets not start this again Click here to enlarge
every thread that has "training" "speeding" "hoons" or "p platers" ends up with everyone posting the same opinion a million times in a million ways.

youre not a good driver til your driving instincts will save ppls lives under pressure.

    + 1 for this.

IMO, Insurance companies should make it compulsory to attend a driver training centre (perhaps at a discounted rate) for all drivers under 25 yrs as a condition of being insured by them.
Old Car 0-100km/h took a friggin long time
New Car 0-100km/h takes only 5.9sec
