Installed Windows 7 Ultimate x64 the other night... Bloody beautiful :-) Even better because it was free! A bit step up from Vista, utilises my video card the way it should and whatever program I use seems to just glide. Booting up in comparison to Vista has a much better improvement than I thought :-)

Installed it on an old P4 with 512mb RAM, and still runs as fast as XP, with the Aero enabled too! It's a great piece of work.

    Old: 07.5 Opel Astra H Sporthatch... R.I.P.

Why should you need to lose anything at all?

if your pc is run via 32bit os, and you want to change to 64bit, you need to do a clean install

The 32-bit and 64-bit versions are a completely different set of installation files. Unless you've got a custom compilation, you'll only have one (either 32-bit or 64-bit) so you'll need to get the 64-bit version.

PS. Make sure you have 64-bit drivers ready
