Will test drive an Evo X when the Astra is going to be replaced
Now I'm really confused Click here to enlarge I got told 5 years by an actual dealer...will have to check back with them tomorrow, couldn't view your link above as it froze my computer...if it's 10 years - bloody beautiful, that goes a long way to justifying the cost outlay for one Click here to enlarge

My astra fells alot faster and more exciting to drive, but in saying that power delivery can be miss leading if its smooth. But i found with the SST box you loose alot of feeling/driving experience.

I remember reading the review in the RACQ road ahead were they quoted the 0-100km/h figure of 7.4seconds

The caradvice 0-100km/h is 7.1seconds, link is below.

Its more than likely that they've both just keyed in 7 instead of 6. As i have seen multiple 6.5,6.2seconds to 100km/h. Could it be the USA and AUS versions are different specs?

    http://www.caradvice.com.au/21781/20...-sedan-review/

But i shouldnt be comparing a moded car to a stocker. A moded (re-map, intake, TBE) ralliart lancer would rip my astra a new whole.
Don't know about some of those test numbers...the ones I saw are from recent reviews from our local mags, Motor/Wheels, there are also numerous O/S reviews which have it as low as 5.5secs to '60mph' even if it needs another 0.5 to 62mph, that's still a neat 6secs Click here to enlarge

Certainly as said previously the one I drove was pretty quick, certainly seemmed quicker than 7 secs to 100...as you say modded it would be something else...

You do get alot of bias in reviews, pays to read lots of them for a better picture and the best impression is always to drive the things yourself !!!

Agree on the Evo 10, but no need to work harder, just work for a longer time or simply spend more LOL Click here to enlarge

That info isn't quite accurate rj, here's a link to actual Ralliart specs...

    http://mrtperformance.com.au/index2....o_pdf=1&id=579

The peak torque is actually at 2,500rpm and sustained till 4,750rpm...

When I drove one, it certainly did feel smooth and linear in that rev range...

ange, johns link is a direct link to a pdf dl that is available at
    http://www.lancerevolution.com.au/
it is a dl of the evo brochure.

only reference to the warranty is a little bit of small print on the bottom of the last page (of 4pages)
so id say he is right, but i have also heard rumour elsewhere about what you are saying, eg not 10/5
    so who knows.
pdf is evo specific, eg no other models covered, so i see no reason for mits to put mention of the warranty there and not honour it.

Thanks Jason, it's weird, but I'll get down to the bottom of it tomorrow Click here to enlarge

I've also seen it written several times in other publications at 5 years for the Evo not 10 ??

I'll ring a couple of different dealers and hopefully get the correct info...

As said, if it's 10 years (certainly hope it is) that's a very good thing Click here to enlarge

after reading that link....the MPS is faster...

better top speed too... 220km/hr... come on...small 4cyl N/A cars do that.

250km/hr in MPS...and thats only becoz its *limited*

Also...does better than 6.5sec and weighs 150kgs less.

I would go the MPS personally over a ralliart.

my 1.8 astra g was more than happy to sit on 213.
i doubt the ralliart or evo are only capable of 220, id say they are limited too. i know they are rev limited, as are the vrx. unsure of the base models being limited though.

Exactly. And so knowing that, you should have thrown the 220kmh stat out of the window as a "gentlemens figure" arrangement. If it actually is limited at that, any remap'd lose it.

Also...does better than 6.5sec and weighs 150kgs less.
The ralliart does 6.5sec with 130kg of ballast or so (two passengers), which strikes me as an odd statistic to give... and annoyingly makes it hard to compare.

I would go the MPS personally over a ralliart.
I'd have to test drive both first... the ralliart certainly looks better then the current model MPS3 though (imo of course), if a bit bland. Click here to enlarge (Never been keen on the shark inspired front though, but that's probably just me).

On the warranty side of things, definitely 10 year mechanicals for the Evo 10 woot Click here to enlarge

My vote also goes to the MPS 3 over the Ralliart, by ever so slightly a margin though Click here to enlarge
