Vectra JS-II CD 2000 Power Socket issue

    Hi Guys,

I need some help - I have a Blaupunkt 520 car stereo installed in my Vectra JS-II CD 2000.

There is an issue with the volume control. When I turn the car on, the stereo's volume will be 100% (subsequently damaging my speakers). I manually turn the radio down to zero before I turn my car off, the next time I turn my car on, it's at 100% volume again.

I've narrowed the problem down to the wiring: the dashboard power socket is plugged into the constant 12v power source instead of the stereo.

Would anybody know how I can easily switch the wires over?

    Thanks for your help guys.

I visited a Car Radio installer and they believed the deck is faulty. I called Holden Suttons (Arncliffe) and they think it could be the default volume setting on the unit - $66 to inspect.

sorry i didnt see this earlier

but yes it is a common fault with the unit in the vec's, and nothing to do with wiring
easiest way is to just replace the unit, they're pretty average tbh

    Thanks Nuggz, JohnBu.

Would I be able to use the display in the dash with an aftermarket stereo?

they are extremely easy to swap for an aftermarket.
prob take 10 min with correct harness' or 30 min to 1 hr if you go crimp and soldered connections,

same time if you go brotek connection like me...
    but does the job.

as john said a deck to do just what yours does now (provided its cd to start with, i dont remember the model numbers) your lookin at 130,
to step up to a unit that will play MP3 or data cds will set you back ~150-180
if you want to start lookin at ones with usb inputs ~190-220
if you want bluetooth you heading near to 400 mark normally.

note ALL will come with aux (headphone jack) input too, which you can run an iPod or mp3 player through.

personally i would recommend JVC as IMO they are a great "bang for buck" player.
ive got one in my car that is nearly 2 yrs old, and i cannot fault it, and it still looks great too.

Are you in WA? might be able to find you a great price on those higher decks.

    when using a cabling harness
just be wary the vec's and astra's i believe have the 12v and ACC swapped around
so you may need to cross the wires on the harness
