i would recommend a good quality rear muffler. Wont be too loud and wont attract too much attention. Cat back exhaust is a waste of money, it wont give you any performance in a 1.8lt.

Getting my little 1.8'er in tommorow to have a look at for a cat back and duel exhaust (for the body kit) I'll mention 2 inch like you guys said. Let you know of the progress.

all ya need jason is to change over the stock back box, its really restrictive and dulls the note badly!!! noticed that the exhaust note sounds good near the engine and low revs but sounds like shit by the time it comes out, change the backbox and problem solved Click here to enlarge. But yeh 2 1/2 id do as ultimate maximum and more than that is for the turbo boys

A 2 inch hotdog after the CAT (whose outlet is under 2 inches, so it is the major restriction), then a reasonably big bodied straight through muffler in the back. Low restriction after the CAT so performance & fuel economy will be improved. Expect to pay $300 - $400.

anything more than 2 inches on a NA car is really a waste of time.. you will acctually lose performance but...its whats inside the cat is the major restriction a 2 inch exit pipe is fine for a NA.
