You could just buy two 1TB drives and run them in RAID 0 which would be cheaper and much faster, improving load times, read and writes

i would never ever ever run a raid 0 setup. defeats the purpose of having raid imo

How about 2 x 2Tb drives striping in Raid 0 which is why I bought the 2nd drive... Click here to enlarge

I am running these in Raid 0 and have a seperate automatic back up running in parallel...I wanted the Raid 0 for speed...Eventually I want to get 4 x 2Tb drives running in Raid 0...Prob is then I will need a HUGE back up Click here to enlarge

    that makes more sense.

to just run raid 0 with no backup drives is madness. helps with speed yes, but if you have nothing backing up those drives it just totally defeats the purpose of raid.

That depends on why you want to run RAID. I use it for speed as I play a lot of games. I also have a 1TB portable drive for back up. If your referring to drive stability today's modern hardware is quite good.
