Sure, we dont have to worry about viking raids or scurvy anymore, but instead we make a daily routine of sitting in flimsy, fibreglass (or metal) boxes full of gasoline which are propelled in opposing directions on the freeway at velocities matching that of low flying aircraft.

This is a roundabout way of saying that cars are dangerous....

It's probably a X22XE/Z22XE from an Omega or Frontera. Pretty much the same block, just set up in a north-south config.

Pretty sure the z18xer engine cover (or even engine head) wont go on the z18xe engine itself.
The XER engine is a different beast in terms of the fact it features variable valve timing and the water pump is driven by the auxiliary belt as opposed to the timing belt. Produces an 11kW over the 92kW from the Z18XE. Even if the head were to bolt on, the oil and coolant galleries are probably all different (EPC confirms the head gaskets differ between the two). You'd have to go with the entire engine, which in theory would bolt to the gearbox, but unsure how the engine mount would work. Then your other nightmare becomes engine management supposedly, as the Z18XER coming from the Astra H (and Vectra C, Merivas and some other Opels in foreign markets) features a CANBUS system. Apparently, there's some tuning options for the XER as opposed to the regular XE, not much, but more than you'd get with the Z18XE for sure.

Nice work, available to come to Kellyville tomorrow night, and do mine while I work?

I moved my car out of the garage, and onto the driveway, so the missus can park in. Also put fuel in it. By 8pm the car looked like it needed a blanket, started frosting up!
