Looks great Aaron! Such a great mod for such little effort! A must do for everyone. Although not blue, I went for white LED's in my cock pit.

Sure, we dont have to worry about viking raids or scurvy anymore, but instead we make a daily routine of sitting in flimsy, fibreglass (or metal) boxes full of gasoline which are propelled in opposing directions on the freeway at velocities matching that of low flying aircraft.

This is a roundabout way of saying that cars are dangerous....

You gotta drive her hard Adam, not baby it.

My Astra was a demo, engine was perfect and barely used any oil when I handed it to Steve @ 180k.

I assumed it was driven hard as a demo as it needed a new gearbox early on (under warranty)! lol

But I could not fault the engine..

    I 110% agree!!

My current engine did 100km on the dyno, changed oil, 700km trip to Winton, changed oil and then had the crap driven out of it at a the track for a couple of hundred km's. You should remember Adam, you were there! Click here to enlarge

Never missed a beat and the compression, ring and bores are perfect after the last teardown and inspection.

Only issue it has had was that we stretched the ARP headstuds running large amounts of boost on the dyno so we had to repalce the head gasket and get custom stronger studs made... Click here to enlarge

Just read the article. Well I kinda am doing that now. only problem is. water is up to operating temp within 5mins, and my oil isnt up to temp until I am about 10mins from work (its about a 20-30min drive depending on traffic), so i have a small window to "open her up" but still manage to. Im not red lining it, but giving it a decent whack of throttle (about 1/2 punch)

Once warmed up, 100% WOT and engine braking.

I suppose it goes against all logic, but not only is it better for the engine, but you may make more power.

There is quite a bit of anecdotal evidence showing demo cars having more power than babied cars on the dyno, due to demo's getting a flogging when new.

Of course, don't forget to change the oil after the initial break in period.
