Managed to solder the MFD today.
Heater controls, steering wheel, roof and dash left to go.
Sounds alright especially considering how much of a difference it will make to the car!
Might send carzy leds an email

Changed engine oil and filter, fuel filter, removed rocker cover and throttle body to clean them up, painting the rocker blue soon. Anybody made the standard top hat chrome?
More blue.
Gotta change boost gauge that's for sure!

Hung a portable 500W halogen light from the roof of the carport so I can work on cars at night when I get home from work. Also started removing the engine from the GSi. So far, everything's disconnected and all I need to do is take 9 bolts out of the gearbox, seven more on the drivers side mount, attach crane and lift it out. Then I'll remove the stereo and swap the wheels over to the SRi. Funny thing is, looks as if the SRi is gonna be a lot easier to work on as there seems to be a lot more room in the engine bay.
And in the ongoing saga of the 2 tonne Korean paperweight, it's gonna cost me about 5-6k to have the bottom end sorted (new short motor). The turbo on the other hand, can't be fixed and I will need a replacement one. That's gonna cost me around another $1400-1800 for a genuine turbo (Hyundai dealers charge about $3200 for one). I'm not gonna get caught out with one of those dodgy Chinese turbos again.

Good news about the Sri, not so good for the iload lol
Filled up with bp ultimate.... No more emissions light
To be honest, I was expecting the bill for the iLoad to be higher. I don't think it's gonna take me too long to get the SRi running either (if the better half allows, I should almost have it done by the end of the weekend or by the middle of next week). The only thing that might halt proceedings a little is getting the flywheel machined, but not by too much if I can get same day service somewhere (I know Kent's on Port Rd can if you drop it off in the morning).
Oh, I found one other problem with the SRi. That'll be getting the 2500kg garage jack under the front. Guess I might just remove the bumper to make it a lot easier

Glad to hear that things are heading in the right direction for you @chris_r! You know, I won't be surprised if you already know about the diesel iCrap better than anyone else in Australia!
As for me, it has been a while since I have updated, but I am going to have to sell the Astra soon. Hope it will go to a good home...it will be sorely missed!
