Cam Sensor is ****ed..all the wires are frayed ($160)
Clutch is slipping (~$1000 to fix)
****ing hell. although an astra with 100,000Kms on the clock would be looking for a new clutch anyway.

Good idea.
The clutches in the Astra's isn't know to wear prematurely if driven in a normal manner. Unfortunately, it's hard to know if the previous owner was hard on the clutch/gearbox.
