oh what a crock of shit ! Holden already tried that on me.

hey Peter, pay triple what you would anywhere else when you come to us for a service and we'll give you an extra 3 years warranty. Sounds great but you can only have it services where you buy it from and quite frankly by the time I drive it home ill need another service as I bought my Diesel in Ballarat, lol. I asked could I do it at one close to me and they said no, sorry !

Actually, VW extended warranty is very good. $1,500 or so for 3 years after the original warranty expires.

The extended warranty is an extension of the factory warranty and not a dealer extended warranty, meaning that you can get your car serviced elsewhere and still retain the VW warranty.

But at $1,500, I've declined on the offer. It's a risk I've taken, but hopefully should pay off as the GTI is fairly reliable (air-cond which was replaced in mine is a known common prob). I just pray that the DSG doesn't play up lol..

The thing I have to decide now is how long do I plan on keeping the GTI, if I plan on keeping it, and selling the Astra, then I'll service the GTI myself, with the exception of timing belt/DSG fluid changes.

What have you done to your car today?

Nah John, had my local mech do it for me (surprisingly Ultratune). He's worked on all of my cars and done exceptional work. The 60k was only 1000.
It voided my extended warranty because my VW dealer didn't provide it. It was a different one that required me to have it serviced at VW only, I didn't pay for the warranty so I didn't care. Plus it's a very reliable
Motor so I wasn't fussed either way Click here to enlarge
Sure, we dont have to worry about viking raids or scurvy anymore, but instead we make a daily routine of sitting in flimsy, fibreglass (or metal) boxes full of gasoline which are propelled in opposing directions on the freeway at velocities matching that of low flying aircraft.

This is a roundabout way of saying that cars are dangerous....

Washed my car a few days ago just before the rain (of course!)...

Today I ordered a slim-line replacement number plate as one of my plates got stolen last night!! Click here to enlarge I hope they don't put it on a black Astra and rack up a bunch of fines... I have a perfect licence history and I won't have it ruined by some bogan.
