Had a couple of boxes of stuff arrive, of course I need to wait for 1 of the other 2 to arrive before I can actually start work on the car...

Should give it a bit of a port job while it's all off and you're waiting!

Not worth it. For it to pass roadworthy, engine has to remain stock. Can't even have a flash tune. I can get away with some differences in the intake piping though. Plus, if I was going to go to that effort, there's a high flow intake manifold available that nets significant gains on tuned Z20LETs that I'll look at down the track.

How will they know if it's not exactly the standard ROM on the ECU though? I'm not saying you should do it, I'm just curious as to how indepth they are when checking for stuff like that.

I guess there is a way. I'd say tuners often would leave their own stamp in the code somewhere, which would be flagged as a dead giveaway. I know when I plug the OP-COM into a Z18XE, it'll tell me in the connection status when the ECU has been replaced or reprogrammed, so if flash tunes such as the IPF leave a signature behind in the same manner, it'll probably be found just as easily.
