The download area is a great idea.
Members can download 'How To' pdf.s, Wallpapers etc.
Rocco, a chat room and shoutbox as fun as they can be, can and have caused problems with software in the past. They have a back door allowing hackers into sites, and this will cause issues. Its happened before on OA, so we don't want to see it happen again.
Corporate sponsorship... not necessarily this half of the year, but something to try and get further down the track.

A Wiki.
Turn all the how-to threads into real collaborative efforts - let people modify/further explain/update/expand the instructions.
Same for technical threads - enter all known part numbers/codes/specs/potential upgrades and so on in one place.
Saves looking for the appropriate thread each time, and easier to find info than reading through pages of info.
And once it's up and running there's little ongoing work for the admins as the users will be doing all the content updating.
If you were really keen you could make wiki read (or perhaps just update) access available only to supporting members.
