    Changing Instrument Panel bulbs

    hello,

Can anyone tell me how to take the dashboard apart on the Astra MK4? I need to change the light bulb behind the rev counter as it has just gone. I have looked around and can't see how to remove it.

    Can anyone help?

    Thanks.

    Geoff.

There are 2 torx screw caps that are on either side of the driving coloumn, they are semi-circle in shape at one end and have a little clip on them. Pop the covers off.
Use a (size 20? i think) torx screw to undo the screws.

Then in the top of the surround is another 2 torx screws. Undo these.

This will let you know have access to getting the speedo out.

UP and BEHIND the taco of the speedo there is a lever which clamps the wiring FROM the car TO the instrument cluster. Release this and its now un-hooked.

To get it out of the space it is in tilt the top of the cluster back slightly and push the right end into the unused space under the dash the pull the left hand side towards you and pull it our of the dash.

    There ya go.

    Install is reversal.

It's tight and needs a bit of jiggling around to get it out without scratching the dashboard plastics. Take your time and remember how it all came out, so that (as Degen-Astra says) you can put it back in reverse order.
Don't forget (like I did the first time) and clean any fingerprints off the inside of the clear plastic that covers the instruments, if you take it off.
    Good luck.

Degen-Astra got it pretty much right.

Tips: free steering wheel by lower right lever so it has space to move. You can pull it out and push down for maximam space.

Instrument fascia top needs to be pushed down to be taken out. Careful not to damage top lining.

Any pics from anyone that has changed the bulbs in the Sri 2.2?

Wondering what it would look like if you put some blue ones in and red for the dials. Can you make the dials red????
