Also just read, Nissan will be continuing the R35 GT-R production (base model) from next year with the already mentioned series 2...(in another thread)
Looks like Nissan have not fully ironed out or just saving themselves the trouble of sorting out the trans reliability issues, as the series 2 will have the launch control feature removed...despite it only affecting a small number of vehicles...
This will include GT-R's for Australia and the U.S. therefore Aust. GT-R's will be series 2 machines...
Good news is the series 2 has bumped up power and torque numbers, will be interesting however to see if these series 2 cars can pull the same 0-100km/h and 1/4 mile times without the launch control, but with the added power ?? as tested the current GT-R's can do 0-100km/h in 4.0sec flat and 12.1 over the 1/4 mile without launch control...
Launch control or not though, even just a little tuning will produce monster results and I'm sure that's exactly what all future owners will do

Believe it or not, I have the same complaint when looking through car mags like fast 4's etc. the nice cars are always obscured by the models and sometimes they're standing or sitting on parts of the car you would never do that on ....shameful
