04 astra sxi gear knobs

i have recently aquired myself a new flashy gear knob for my astra and am having trouble removing the old one, if anyone can help me with this prob im having ops:

I got a MOMO gear knob but I had it removed by Roman autotech they used a slide hammer to get the old one off ops:

cheers for that, i worked it out twist a pull technique worked a treat new one slid straight on 8)

I wouldnt recommend the twist part. But the pull bit (and lots of wheeties) is all good.
