Thanks for looking into that. I hadn't realised that it was unintentional, so never bothered pursuing the issue.

Cheers for that Pauly. Wonder why nobody else had complained about it? Anyway, it's fixed now and that's all that really matters. Click here to enlarge

That's very true Donna, but for longer-term archival material such as images acompanying the "How2" guides on VVOC (where I spend much of my online time) we've found that the image-hosting sites tend to delete their images after far too short a period of time, which makes them virtually useless for such purposes. For short-term one-offs though, they're more than adequate for the task. Click here to enlarge

Those sites shouldn't be deleting anything!

I use photobucket and my stuff isn't touched.

Using offsite image stores like Donna suggested is the preferred method as it keeps our database / storage and bandwidth down...

    Cheers

Be that as it may, there's nothing more annoying than searching for an old archived How2 file, only to find that whilst the text still exists, the images have long since been replaced with placeholders.

I use photobucket and my stuff isn't touched.
You're clearly one of the lucky ones then, because I have noticed far too many instances of late where somebody will post a link to an image which no longer exists, even though it had been posted only a matter of days earlier.

Agreed, but by the same token, I don't believe it's very clever to be storing important or irreplaceable images off-site when there's no guarantee that they'll still be there 6 or 12 months down the track.
