Weird shape screws on AH Astra???

Boys and girls, does any know where I can get a 6 pointed screw driver to undo some screws on my astra? It looks like a philips head type screw but with 6 instead of 4 points. Tried all of my screwdrivers and none fit or have the leverage to under to screws.

they are toux screws designed to stop tampering

go into auto 1 or Bunnings and you should be able to get them in a little set. mostly you will need a t20 and t25 but a t40 is also usfull as i have found

Torx screws have been in use for some time now, even on previous model Opels Click here to enlarge

But the type used here are not 'anti tamper' - they can actually be easily undone with the equivalent size allen key - try that if you can't be bothered buying 'torx bits' Click here to enlarge

The anti tamper versions have a nipple in the centre, requiring a specialised driver head.

As suggested above, sets of drivers for all these are available everywhere....

Yeh anti tamper would be the wrong phrase... more a deterrant. It's actually law that they be able to be undone with 'normal' sockets and allen keys.

MB and AUDI have some special "Security" torx bits on their mirrors, and emissions gear. Apparently these tools, well at least up until a month ago, couldnt be purchased as there was only one manufacturer.. and you had to prove their use prior to purchasing. I think it wont be long before the chinese get on to them and have a play....

in the past, prior to sourcing a set of these special tools, it was commonplace to break the central nipple, and remove with a common garden variet security torx bit.... but that destroyed the screw...

    try...
